Amazing KC Kids: Meet Miles, DJ

We are so excited to introduce you to Miles Timm otherwise known as DJ Miles. At just 13 years old, Miles, a seventh-grader in the Blue Valley School District, already has over four years of DJ experience under his belt spinning at more than 60 events across the metro. What started as a third-grader DJing his first event at Loch Lloyd Country Club, is now a young man’s passion.

DJ Miles.

You can see DJ Miles live in action at Kansas City Mom Collective’s Pajama Jam as he fills the dance floor with the perfect tunes for dancing the evening away with your family!

  1. Miles, how did you begin your DJ career?

I have always been interested in music. In kindergarten, I started playing the piano and listening to all kinds of different genres of music.  My mom had shown me a video of a music festival that her friend was attending and the video showed one of the biggest DJs, Avicii, performing.  The music and visuals fascinated me and ever since then, I have been interested in EDM music,

2. What musical artists are your favorite or inspire you?

I have a lot of favorites, but I really enjoy Illenium, The Chainsmokers, Marshmello, Twenty One Pilots, and Avicii just to name a few.

3. What are some of your favorite events to DJ?

I always enjoy doing events at middle schools and seeing everyone dancing and requesting music that is in my same age group.

4. When you’re not spinning records what are you most likely to be found doing?

Along with DJing, I also enjoy filmmaking, working on my YouTube channel, and hanging out with friends.

5. Do you see yourself being a DJ in the years ahead?

I definitely see myself doing it through college as a job.

6. What can you picture yourself doing when you grow up?

I would love to be in the music industry but I am also interested in film.

7. Do you have any advice for other kids who may want to start working on something they love at a young age?

Have confidence, stay committed and surround yourself with people who support you.

You can find Miles online on Facebook and Instagram.
