Back-to-School Event Offers Assistance to KC Families

Show Me KC Schools and Samuel U. Rodgers Host  Second Bounce Back to School Event

For a second year, Show Me KC Schools and Samuel U. Rodgers will host the Bounce Back to School Event on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, 825 Euclid Ave.

“This is a one stop shop for families as they plan for all their back to school needs,” said Robyn King, Director of SchoolAppKC at Show Me KC Schools. “Samuel U. Rodgers will provide immunizations and vaccinations. KC area schools will be on site to assist families that still need to register for school. In addition, services will be provided for assistance with food, employment, mental health and health insurance.”

Admission for participants is free. All services will be on a first-come, first-served basis. All participants are encouraged to wear a mask and to bring immunization card(s) to receive school immunizations. The following assistance will be available:

  • School supplies and books
  • COVID immunizations and school immunizations*
  • Apply to all KCMO Charter and District Schools

  • Housing, food, utility and employment assistance information

  • Insurance counselors to help you register for ACA and learn more about mental health services

  • Information and resources provided by WIC and Nurture KC

Sarah grew up in Manhattan, Kansas (Go Cats!), she moved to Minnesota where she met her husband, Shea. Realizing how much she hated snow in May, she convinced him to move to Kansas City in 2010. Together they have lived in Midtown, Waldo, the Plaza, and now Overland Park. Sarah is mom to 10-year-old, Henry, 7-year-old Clark and 5-year-old Lucy. She has her master’s in urban administration and is passionate about making Kansas City a more equitable and supportive community. In between the crazy, she likes to drink coffee, run, hike, travel as much as possible, and experience all things Kansas City!
