Electric Park Garden Bar at J. Rieger & Co.
You won’t regret venturing to the east bottoms with your family to experience J. Rieger & Co. Not only is there a 40ft slide inside, their new patio bar is a great spot to bring your kids and/or your dog. Their walk up bar has refreshing cocktails, coladas or boozy snow cones for the adults and non alcoholic snow cones or floats for the kids. Hogan’s Orange Soda is always a hit topped with vanilla ice cream! The Electric Park food truck has smash burgers, fries and mini pies (GF & Vegetarian options). In addition to food and drink, there are yard games, occasional music and a relaxed family friendly atmosphere.
Lawrence Beer Co.
Lawrence Beer Co. is the perfect place to stop with your family on a day trip to Lawrence, Kan. They are located within walking distance from downtown, the Lawrence Loop bike and walking trails and Hobbs Park. They have a large indoor and outdoor patio space for large groups as well. A family friendly outdoor patio covered with picnic tables. There is lots of green space for the kids to explore while the adults enjoy one of their local brews. Their food menus include plenty of gluten free, vegan and kids menus.
Rock & Brews
Rock & Brews is an all American joint located in Overland Park’s Prairiefire. They have some very enticing weekly specials including Happy Hour all day long on Monday’s, $5 Burger Tuesdays and Sunday Brunch, where Kids & Dogs Eat Free. The Menus are allergy friendly with accommodations for GF / V / DF options. Seating options are indoor and outdoor, always leaving your kids dancing with Rockin’ tunes. The decor is a topic for conversation, giving your kids a little music history lesson.
Strang Hall
Strang Hall is a fun spot in Downtown Overland Park with a food genre for all. The options range from pizza to sushi, check out all of the current kitchens here. Once you’ve ordered there is a turfed patio great for the kids to play on while the adults relax and enjoy a cocktail in an Adirondack chair. If you are looking for a gathering space, they have a party room reserved in the back. During the warmer months, be on the lookout for live music out on the patio. Check out upcoming events.
Char Bar
Char Bar is a family friendly establishment nestled in the Westport area. Not only do they have some of the best BBQ in town, they have an 8,000 square foot beer garden full of large scale yard games. Cornhole, bocce ball, ping pong and fire pits are among a few of the activities available. Their pit masters have excellent southern style BBQ, delicious libations and a perfect brunch spot.
Chicken & Pickle
Chicken & Pickle was such a hot spot in North KC they built a second location at Prairiefire. Activities for all ages, including pickleball, cornhole, turf to run around and yard games. Their food is delicious, I highly recommend The Munchies section and the tostadas or quesadillas. The beverage menu has cocktails featuring local spirits, beer and wine. KC Bier Co.
KC Bier Co. has a large outdoor space for your large group to gather and hang out while the kids play. They are a very dog and kid friendly establishment in the heart of the Waldo area. Enjoy the Biergarten with communal table seating. You can bring in your own food to enjoy or order it from the Bierhalle. They have German sausages, pretzels and specials. They have a separate gluten and vegan menu available upon request. For special events, reservations are available.
Bar K
Who doesn’t love to treat their four-legged friend to a fun patio adventure! Bar K is a great spot for the entire family. Check out the kid rules to keep you and your pets safe before you visit. Bar K offers several different areas for all sizes of dogs. They have drinks on tap for the adults and offer a food menu for you, your dog and your kids!
