Busy Isn’t a Badge and You Don’t Need to Earn It

At any one given moment in time, a woman’s brain is like an open internet browser with 25 tabs open at once. If you’re a man, and you’re reading this…don’t laugh, it’s a very real and true thing.

I have the hardest time managing those internet browser tabs. Constantly opening new ones and never closing out the old ones. I walk around terrified that if I do, I will have FOMO (fear of missing out).

And the fact that FOMO is even a *thing* that’s used and people know, speaks volumes of what we have done to ourselves in our society.

Oh, and don’t let me forget the ever loving hustle. You’ve heard it, I know you have. Not a thing wrong with hustling for your family, your hopes, your dreams but where is the boundary? Sometimes it feels like the hustlin’ walls are closing in on us all.

Here’s what we’ve done: we’ve created a culture of busy. Honoring those who are busiest and giving them a big fat stamp of approval for doing all the things and still managing to keep their Facebook and Instagram feed flawless.

In reality, aren’t we all just struggling to keep our heads above water? When does it end? When will be begin to honor the women who choose to say “no” to one more commitment? When will we recognize that there is something magical and healing in the stillness of life? These are the things that cultivate true joy and happiness.

Truth be told – we have to learn to listen to ourselves; mind, body, and soul and lean into what we need. I’m giving you permission you say no, to let go of some of those things weighing you down and keeping you from being present.

Honestly, this week I had to sit down and examine just exactly what I had gotten myself into. How I had created my very own busy walls that were closing in on me.

Use the time to get caught up on other responsibilities or allow yourself to just rest. Our bodies need that you know? I told my three year old just this week, you have to rest or you won’t be able to grow big and strong! It’s true for us too, mama. We need rest or we cannot grow big and strong mind, bodies, and souls.
