Disney Pride in Concert Comes to Kansas City, June 17-18

A Magical Celebration of LGBTQ Life, Love, and Family!

Hold on to your Mickey Mouse ears and get ready for the ultimate Disney extravaganza! The Heartland Men’s Chorus Kansas City is proud to present Disney Pride in Concert, a show filled with more magic than Tinkerbell’s pixie dust! This multimedia musical celebration of love, family, and perseverance is perfect for all ages, from toddlers to grandparents.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 17, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, June 18, at 3:30 p.m., at the Muriel Kauffman Theatre at The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. We’d recommend this show to any child 5 and up! This is a show you won’t want to miss! Tickets are only on sale at hmckc.org.

Get ready to sing along to your favorite Disney earworms like Frozen’s “Let It Go,” The Little Mermaid’s “Under the Sea” and The Lion King’s “Circle of Life” with enchanting new musical arrangements by our 140-member chorus and a 25-piece orchestra. You’ll be transported to the magical worlds of Coco, Zootopia, and Wreck-It Ralph, and experience the wonder of Disney theme parks like never before, all accompanied by dazzling animation from Disney and Pixar films.

Artistic Director and Conductor, Shawn Cullen is just as excited as his five-year-old nephew who will be in the audience, “I can assure you that Disney Pride in Concert is a one-of-a-kind experience. Not only will you enjoy the timeless and universal music of Disney, but you’ll also hear personal stories from an array of chorus members, showcasing the individual meaning and connections drawn from this iconic music. It’s a celebration of inclusivity that combines the magic of Disney music with important messages of acceptance and representation.”

Cullen also says, “And for those of you wondering if it’s appropriate to dress up as your favorite Disney characters, let me tell you, it’s not just appropriate – it’s encouraged! Come as your favorite prince, princess, mermaid, or even as the mouse himself! We want to make this experience as magical as possible, and what better way to do that than by letting kids of all ages express themselves authentically as the iconic characters that continue to shape our imagination!”

Tickets are only on sale at hmckc.org.
