Great Pumpkin Fest a Fall Must Do in Kansas City

This post is sponsored by Worlds of Fun.

We had so much fun kicking off our fall family fun with a trip to World of Fun’s Great Pumpkin Fest. The harvest festival takes place in Planet Snoopy and is just a speck of spooky for pint-sized ghosts and goblins. There are tons of fun activities, live entertainment, a corn maze, games, and even a bit of trick or treating. It’s a one-stop shop full of fall fun for the entire family.

Inside Planet Snoopy, you’ll join Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang as your work your way through an assortment of fall-themed activities. My kids are ride junkies and wanted to make sure we hit all the cool and kid friendly rides in Planet Snoopy while not
missing all the fall-tastic activities with the Great Pumpkin Fest. We started our time at Pigeons Petting Farm which is open noon to 5 p.m. during the Great Pumpkin Fest. We purchased some animal food for $2/cup, and my girls had a blast walking around petting and feeding the variety of animals including bunnies, goats, ponies, and alpacas.

After a few more rides, we made our way over to the Linus’ Labyrinth Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch where we traveled through the corn maze to the pumpkin patch. At the pumpkin patch, every child gets to select a small pumpkin to take home. My girls had a blast selecting just the right mini pumpkin for a front row spot on our porch.

We concluded our time at Linus’ Labyrinth with some Trick or Treating with the Peanuts Characters—costumes welcome but not required! We made the rounds to the character’s houses and my girls had fun being silly with the World of Fun staff as they played fun games.

After a few more rides, we decided rest was needed, so we watched the Muttley Crew dog show (1, 3, 4:30 p.m. on both Saturdays and Sundays) This show displays an array of dogs as they perform cool tricks. This is great time to catch a seat, eat a snack and enjoy the show!

Another great indoor option, in case the fall weather doesn’t show up for your visit, is Franklin’s Cool Coloring and Pigeons Creepy Crafts which are located inside the yellow gift shop at Planet Snoopy. Kids of all ages can complete fall-themed coloring sheets and a unique craft to take home. This indoor option is a great place to cool off if needed or just sit to rest some little legs.

Great Pumpkin Fest Mom Tips

  • Wagons and strollers are welcome, and I highly encourage bringing one along to stash all the things you’ll be bringing home with you. We use this wagon and love it for its price point and ease of use.
  • Water is a must especially on those hot fall days. You can bring in one water bottle per person and there is water refilling station located in Planet Snoopy for convenience.
  • Grab a map from Guest Services or better yet, download the Worlds of Fun App to check wait times for rides and help to plan and navigate around Planet Snoopy.
  • Most attractions are open noon to 5 p.m. for Great Pumpkin Fest on both Saturdays and Sundays, but there are few things only on one day of the weekend. Make sure to check the schedule below as you plan your trip!

Great Pumpkin Fest runs Saturdays and Sundays thru October 31 from noon to 5 p.m. and is included in the cost of admission into Worlds of Fun. You’ll want to add World of Fun’s Great Pumpkin Fest to your list of fall activities to do in Kansas City – it’s a blast for entire family!

In my free time, I enjoy running outside when it’s not above 85 or below 40 degrees, watching my husband grill out so I don’t have to cook, and being perpetually sarcastic. I love nights out with the hubs, traveling with my family, red wine, coffee, ice cream and flare pens. Follow my crazy on IG @britni_jarvis or on all other forms of social media @britnijarvis.
