Top Residential Neighborhoods in KCMO
Armour Hills
Armour Hills in South Kansas City features unique houses with a variety of building styles. The neighborhood is situated next to Brookside and Waldo which means access to lots of entertainment, shopping and dining options!
Brookside
Brookside is a trendy spot for families in KC with old, gorgeous homes, local shopping and restaurants and favorite annual events.
Historic Northeast
Historic Northeast is made up of six neighborhoods – Pendleton Heights, Scarritt Renaissance, Indian Mound, Sheffield, Lykins and Independence Plaza – date back to the late 1800’s. This up and coming area has dedicated residents focused on revitalization as well as honoring the many cultures and religions shared in this diverse area. It is also home to the Kansas City Museum and Kessler Park.
Ivanhoe
This neighborhood has one of the most active neighborhood associations in the city with a focus on developing this area into an area with high resident engagement and sustained progress. The renaissance of the neighborhood came in 1997 when resident Alan A. Young and his wife, Yolanda, took the lead in organizing prayer vigils that resulted in the closing of six drug houses and the reinvigoration of the Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council. A strategic plan to revive Ivanhoe to thrive once again was developed; funding has followed.
Waldo
Waldo is a cute community that is situated right on the edge of the center of the city. If you are looking to start over or looking for a new home, this neighborhood will probably be a good fit. With a lot of nightlife, day spas, trendy coffee shops, boutiques, and locally-owned shops, it’s a fun place. The cost of living here is very affordable. In fact, reports indicate that it is 16 percent lower than the average in the United States.
Volker Neighborhood
Volker has a diverse and youthful population, offering lots of opportunities for shopping, as well as numerous outdoor parks and a budding nightlife district.
