How to Experience the Chiefs Excitement Around KC

Alright Chief’s Kingdom. Our time has (finally!) come. For once the Big Game is less about the dips and commercials, and actually about the game. All 60 Mahomes tossing,  Williams running, and Kelce catching stress-inducing minutes of it. In this sports loving city, this is kind of a big deal. We fought for our right, and now it’s time to PAAAARTY!

If you’re looking for how you can stretch the awesomeness of this feeling out, and maybe de-stress a bit before the game, we’ve got you covered. Some of our favorite local spots are celebrating in their own unique way, and we’re HERE FOR IT. So grab your Mahomies, your camera, and your appetite and make a day (heck…a week!) of doing all things CHIEFS before the big game!

Photo ops:
OK, so unless you’re living under a rock, or not on Instagram, you’ve likely seen the amazing setup at Union Station with Chiefs photo ops galore. Hit that up, then make your way south to the Westport Alehouse and grab a family pic in front of the giant Chiefs wall mural that debuted at the beginning of the season. Also, stalk your local HyVee (via FB) for a chance to get a selfie with the giant Mahomes bobblehead if you haven’t already!

Food:  Cookies, cupcakes, and donuts…oh my! Bakeries all around town are using their decorative and creative skills to bring the chiefs excitement alive in sweet treat form.  McLain’s Bakery and Eileen’s Colossal Cookies both have adorable Chief’s themed cookies that you can snag for the big game, or a mid-week treat.

Nick & Jake’s is serving slices of “Chiefs Cake”, and Betty Rae’s is scooping up “ChiefsCake” in ice cream form!  Local fine chocolatier Christopher Elbow has special Chiefs edition bonbons that you can snag as well. If you’re craving something on the savory side, Westport Flea Market is offering $1.69 burgers from now until the game, in order to “party like it’s 1969.”

Drinks:  If you’re looking for a cold beverage to enjoy during the game, have no fear, the local craft beer makers have got your back. If you’re lucky, you can still snag a six pack of Champ Stamp, a Blonde Ale from Crane Brewing out in Raytown. Or you can make the trip over to Lee’s Summit and stop by Diametric Brewing  and get a crowler to go of their TD Tossin Patrick MaHazy. Servaes Brewing in Shawnee, where the head brewer and owner just happens to be a Mom (woop!), is having a watch party for the big game with multiple red-inspired beer releases and a FREE nacho bar! PS…they’re totally family friendly with house made sodas too. If hot is more your style, The Roasterie and Cuento Coffee both have limited edition Chiefs inspired beans that you can grab on your next coffee run.

Of course if you’re in need of new duds to show off your pride and allegiance to the red and gold, swing by your nearest Made in KC for the latest creations from local makers. Regardless of how you choose to celebrate this week, and get amped for the biggest game in 50 years, remember to take a moment and soak it all in. The energy and excitement this city generates is one of a kind, and no matter who comes out victorious in the end, no one can take that away from us.
