KCMB: Year One

1622870_585075958234286_304463875_nOne year ago (yesterday, in fact), Tonya wrote this post about her journey to Kansas City, to stay-at-home momma-hood, and ultimately, to this blog.

One year later, this place – our little corner of the Internet – is even cooler than we could have imagined.

It’s hard to believe that we’ve been doing this – sharing our stories (and listening to yours), connecting Kansas City moms with the resources and support they need to make each day work – for an entire year … and we CAN’T WAIT for what we’ve got in store for you in year two!

Here are some fun facts about our first year here at KCMB.

Our Readers

With readers from all across the Kansas City metro area (and the country, for that matter), our top 5 largest pockets of readers are from the following cities:

  • Kansas City, MO
  • Overland Park, KS
  • Olathe, KS
  • Liberty, MO
  • Shawnee, KS

Our readers find us in a number of ways …

  • Facebook,
  • search engines,
  • Twitter, etc.

… with Facebook being our most popular source of traffic on a daily basis. Speaking of traffic, our site currently sees more than 18,000 page views per month!

Of our non-social media referral sites, we see a lot of traffic from some great local and regional blogs:

  • The Natos, written by one of our favorite guest contributors (and moms), Jami Nato.
  • Life With the Frenchs, a blog featuring family life and photography from one of our talented contributors, Allison French.
  • Snappy Casual, a place for “family + fashion + other lovely things” from Kelsey Williams in Des Moines, Iowa.
  • Gimme Some Oven: recipes, life and style from Ali.
  • Grace-Filled Mess, a fantastic blog on all things adoption from Susan, a wife, mom, and local adoption consultant.

Our Most Popular Posts

The great thing about these posts is that they weren’t popular because we  thought they would be, but because you  read, shared, and connected with the messages behind them. That said, here are our top 5 most popular posts from the last year:

We (Sarah and Tonya), along with all of the contributors who continue to make this vision a reality, are grateful for the opportunity to connect with you on a daily basis. We are eagerly anticipating the next year (and beyond) with you!
