There is a hot new space opening up in Liberty, MO this week and they have rolled out the red carpet for the whole community, including families. The new B&B Theatre in Liberty opens to the public July 12, 2018 and they are ready to dazzle you with six signature ways to enjoy the magic of the movies.
My family is constantly looking for fun new things to do in the Northland, especially with younger kids, and my daughter just in the last six months or so started enjoying going to the movies so a family date night at B&B Theatres Liberty Cinema 12 was the perfect way to spend a hot Monday night. Our special sneak preview of Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation was held in the screenPLAY theater. The screenPLAY is an awesome place where kids can kick off their shoes (socks are required, so make sure you have a spare pair tucked in to your bag) and enjoy 30 minutes of play time in either the up front toddler play area, perfect for up to age three; or the full size climbing playground, complete with an awesome slide!
The theater plays fun interactive videos and cartoons during playtime and an adorable countdown video to let the kids know when it’s time for playtime to end and showtime to begin. Even my precocious almost four year old, who would pick playing over a movie any day, was happy to follow the directions and have a seat. And have a seat we did! Each theater is equipped with comfortable heated leather recliners and when you purchase a ticket you reserve your seat which makes heading in at your designated movie time totally stress free. Cup holders and armrests that can be positioned up or down make snuggling with your little one during the “scary parts” totally doable, too.
If your kids are anything like mine, potty breaks are a guarantee during a long movie. Don’t worry, screenPlay has you covered there, too. Directly across the way from the entrance to the theater is an awesomely equipped family bathroom with changing table. Its proximity to the theater means you (hopefully) won’t miss the ending when “I need to go potty” happens right as the superheroes are saving the world!
And don’t think this whole place is only geared toward little kids either. The screenPlay theater is just one of several awesome offerings for your date night or your whole family. Screen X provides a 270° panoramic immersive experience that utilizes a total of 11 projectors in the auditorium that push the image not just to the front of the house, but to the two sidewalls of the auditorium.
The B&B Theatres grand screen is a premium large-format venue, and features one of the largest screens in the nation. It features DTSX immersive digital surround sound, dive lighting, and the best in digital projection. The lyric auditorium is an intimate 30 venue that features plush seating, beautiful hardwood floors and is the perfect spot to be rented out for your own personalized movie party.
If you’re entertaining adults there is a great bar right outside of the entrance, too! MX4D is touted as “a way for guests to break into the fourth dimension.” The seats move in sync with the on screen action, and wind, rain, snow, light, and scent effects further enhance the experience to create a totally immersive an unforgettable movie going opportunity. B&B Theatres tells me that the MX4D is awesome for action/adventure and horror movies, and I could see by the look in my husband’s eye that a date night is imminent!

Grab a traditional movie snack or take advantage of their great selection of burgers, hot dogs, chicken, flatbread and kid friendly meal options made to order just for you and available at their state of the art concession stand. If you’re looking for something a little more adult, or you’re just lucky and have plenty of time before your show head in to the full service bar and restaurant for a cocktail, delicious dinner and live music. Trivia is also being offered once a week.
