My Love Affair with a Facial from Rodan+Fields

My lips are still tingly and my husband claims my face feels nice and smooth. I can’t decide if I should take that as a compliment or an insinuation that my face is usually . . . err . . . not so smooth. Either way, I’m enjoying the happy vibes my face is putting off!

image 2Okay, before I tell you about this facial that is pleasantly attacking my face, I have to tell you about the Kansas City mom who gave me this facial to try. Laura Yates found a new calling when her first child was born last spring. She was content to give up her eight year teaching career to be at home with the baby, but wanted to do something that would give her an outlet to do some something she loved. So she joined up with a company that seems to be appearing all over the place! Rodan+Fields has only been around since 2002 and it was started by two doctors who wanted to create a product that helps women take care of their skin. Laura seems to really enjoy being an independent consultant as it gives her time to be with her daughter and husband. As she told me, “this momma is happy, so the whole family is happy.” A happy momma DOES make for a happy family!

juliefacialAnyways . . . back to the face attack. Okay, seriously, ladies – I’m loving how soft and smooth my face feels! I don’t do a lot of facials so I’m not sure if my face should feel so different so quickly, but I can tell you that whatever the paste has in it, works! I got to try the Massage Micro-Dermabrasion Paste and soon after I started applying it my skin began to feel warm, as if I’d been placed under a warm cloth at an actual spa. Anytime I can get a spa type experience without having to hire a baby sitter and find non mom-clothes to wear, I’m happy. I can’t believe I’m sharing this picture with you but I was inspired by Kristin’s post a few weeks ago and decided I should bare my naked face, too. When a face is naked and getting a facial, it’s okay to share, right???

Perhaps the greatest aspect of this facial is that I was able to apply the Night Renewing Serum and Lip Renewing Serum right after the facial was wiped off. Forget that; my favorite aspect of the facial was the time it took. I only had to keep the paste on my face for one minute! Then it was off to rinse and apply the serums. Now THAT is my kind of home facial! Something I can do after the kids are in bed while still allowing me time to hop on the couch for my favorite Thursday night NBC shows.

So since the time I started this post (right after I did the facial) and now, I’ve checked Facebook and Instagram a few times, texted with a mom friend, sent a few emails and made some edits to this post – and I’m still feeling like my face was just pampered by a professional. If I could just do this every night, I might sleep better. Oh, who am I kidding? I’m a MOM. The day I sleep well is probably the day my kids are long gone. I’ll take the sleepless nights and kids underfoot any day.

The other thing I wanted to share with you all is that Laura highly recommends becoming a Rodan+Fields Consultant. She is a  busy SAHM, blogger, and a consultant. Laura gets to work from home, set her own hours and get a full time pay check.  But she also said that lots of Rodan+Fields consultants are women who work full time careers! I love learning about a company that fits the schedule of the stay at home moms and the working moms. I’m really happy for her that she’s found something she loves to do that allows her to be with the kid that she loves. Win win!

::BONUS:: We have a Rodan+Fields giveaway running this week and you can enter to win! Head on over to our GIVEAWAY page and enter. PLUS, this exact same giveaway will be available at our Moms Night Out on October 6! Get your ticket so you can attend and be entered to win that one, too!

Hello! Kansas City has been our home for the past 3 years and we love it. We moved here after a 2 year stint in Madrid, Spain working for a Christian non-profit. Although I will always have a bad case of wanderlust, I’m a Midwest girl through and through. Educated at Iowa State University as a Spanish teacher, I taught K-6th grade students the joy of learning another language for 2 years. In 2007 I left the world of teaching and became a full time Mama to our first child Renae. Her little brothers Sammy and Colton arrived 2 and 4 years later and between the 3 of them, they keep me busy. I also work for the Skybridge Community which assists American expats as they adjust to and prepare for life in another country. I find great joy in connecting people together, meeting new people, and learning about those that are different from me. Most days you’ll find me spending my mornings at the YMCA where I like to get my Zumba groove on and ending each day watching House Hunters International. I’m looking forward to connecting with all of you great KC Moms!
