Sports Teams

HappyFeet Preschool Soccer

Weekly preschool HappyFeet classes run for 30 minutes once a week.  The sessions include highly structured soccer activities not only with a soccer ball, but also with many other fun “props” that are sure to please.

i9 Sports

i9 was founded on the principle that kids should play sports to learn and have fun, not as a means to a pro career. Sports offered include soccer, basketball, baseball, lacrosse and volleyball.

Kansas City East Lions Sports

The KC East Lions offers athletic programs such as baseball, softball, soccer, football, volleyball, basketball, cross country and track & field to home-schooled boys and girls, as well as to privately educated students at schools without these sports programs.

YMCA of Greater Kansas City

Sports at the Y provide a structured opportunity for kids to learn the game, improve technique, stay active, build social skills, gain confidence and develop leadership while taking into consideration the latest public health guidelines for a safe environment. Sports are available for ages 2 and up.

Swim Lessons

Aquatots

Olathe’s Aqua Tots Swim School teaches kids ages 4 months – 12 years how to become safe and confident swimmers. The pool is a warm 90 degrees and the school allows flexible scheduling and make-up lessons.

Goldfish Swim School

Goldfish, located in Overland Park, specializes in year-round lessons for kids ages 4 months to 12 years old. The teaching methods are based on the SwimPlay philosophy, which focuses on learning through guided play in a safe environment. Swimmers learn safety in the water for age-appropriate concerns – first, learning to get themselves out of the pool and later, appropriate behavior while at a pool.

Emler Swim School

Emler was founded on the principle that every child has the ability to swim, and it’s our calling to help them discover that ability. They employ a proven semester-based, year-round approach that integrates child development best practices. Classes available year-round at locations in Westwood and Leawood.

YMCA of Greater Kansas City

The Y offers swim lessons for kids ages 6 months to 12 years old. Their wide array of class options; including weekdays, weeknights, and weekends, make it easy to work it into an already packed schedule. The progress focuses on nurturing swimming skills, developing self-esteem and creating positive experiences that will last a lifetime.

Homeschool Physical Education Classes

Homeschool PE, Kansas City North Community Center

Let your homeschool student get exercise and have fun with other students. This is a great opportunity to learn several different skills and abilities. Tuesdays, 1-3 p.m., $12/month

Homeschool Program at Emerald City Gymnastics

Daytime homeschool programs are available September thru May at Emerald City Gymnastics in Overland Park.

Sarah grew up in Manhattan, Kansas (Go Cats!), she moved to Minnesota where she met her husband, Shea. Realizing how much she hated snow in May, she convinced him to move to Kansas City in 2010. Together they have lived in Midtown, Waldo, the Plaza, and now Overland Park. Sarah is mom to 10-year-old, Henry, 7-year-old Clark and 5-year-old Lucy. She has her master’s in urban administration and is passionate about making Kansas City a more equitable and supportive community.
