Score a Touchdown with the YMCA and Chiefs Flag Football Program

This post is sponsored by the YMCA of Greater Kansas City. The writer had the opportunity to experience the program in exchange for her honest review.

Damien is our middle kiddo and sometimes get lost in the shuffle of five. And with attention deficit disorder, it’s hard  to get him to complete a task. So, when the opportunity of playing football with the YMCA of Greater Kansas City came up, we jumped on it! He definitely needed something to call his own.

In YMCA Flag Football, now sponsored by the Kansas City Chiefs, the focus is on teamwork in a positive and structured environment. Children will learn how to throw, catch, run routes and other aspects of the game that will keep them active and help them develop skills such as hand-eye coordination.

Flag football kept him focused, determined, and ready to complete a task. That was huge for us! Coach D was very patient with not only Damien, but with all the boys on the team. We loved his coach and all that he stood for. Coach D was so passionate about football, teaching the boys the true meaning of teamwork and how to be a better athlete.

As his parent, I was very nervous about him being just as lost in the shuffle with this team as he is at home sometimes (he is very quiet). But the team embraced him, and he was able to find what he needed the most, his voice.

This Y program was more than just a sport. It’s a feeling of compassion, trust, and strength. Not only did my son learn football skills and develop a stronger self esteem, participants received Chiefs jerseys and footballs, invitations to special family events and more. The best part was hanging out with with KC Wolf  and the Chiefs Cheerleaders.

If you want to continue the Chiefs love for your kids, join Chiefs Kingdom Kids, a new program for kids ages 6-12. This FREE program comes with cool events at Arrowhead and a football as a welcome gift. Your kid will also have the chance to win a pre-season ticket giveaway and will get a birthday card each year from the Chiefs!

If you are looking for sports for your athlete look no further, the Chiefs/YMCA flag football partnership is offered in the spring and fall. There are multiple locations that the program will be available, Johnson County, Jackson County, Wyandotte County, and the Northland.

I was born in Kansas City and raised in Colorado Springs for part of my childhood. After some moving around and life changes. I decided to come back home, best decision I have made! We call North Kansas City home and we absolutely love it. Its the small-town feel within the big city. When I am not taking my kids somewhere, or knee-deep in laundry I enjoy crafting, bible journaling, being involved in my kids' schools, and thrift store shopping! So basically I am busy crafting, momma who loves God and a good deal! Nice to meet y'all.
