A Cruise Trip for the Whole Family
Before you buy, check out our tips for cruising with littles.

Family Vacation
“We wrapped up a giant box as tall as our girls. When they opened it, helium balloons with the German flag on them floated out and attached to the balloons were pretend boarding passes to Germany. We did the same thing when we took them to New York to see Frozen on Broadway. I don’t think I will ever be able to top those gifts or the gifting experience!”

Phone
“When my daughter got her phone, as she was unwrapping it, I discreetly started calling it. I had programmed my ring tone to be Mother Knows Best and I kept dialing her until she finally got all the paper off.”

Bikes
Check out local bike shop Bike America (Overland Park and Lee’s Summit) for quality options and expert advice.

Springfree Trampoline of Kansas City
Learn more about them and where to test them out here.

American Girl Doll
The local store at Oak Park Mall is fun to both shop and play at.

Amazon Fire Kids’ Tablet
Pay attention to Black Friday and other sales as holidays near – you can get some awesome bundles and deals!

Power Wheel
“The Frozenmobile has been Santa’s most popular gift to date. They use it every chance they get and have for the past three years.”

Play Kitchen and Food
“I usually shop for the big stuff at consignment sales. They don’t know any different!”

Bounce House
“Doing a bounce house this year for our basement (thrifted, of course!)”

Nice earrings or other jewelry
“My daughter got a pair of sapphire earrings. They were wrapped up in multiple boxes, to make the point that they were the equivalent of lots of other much smaller gifts. I would of course only recommend real jewelry for older kids who have proven they don’t lose things!”

Sarah McGinnity
Sarah grew up in Manhattan, Kansas (Go Cats!), she moved to Minnesota where she met her husband, Shea. Realizing how much she hated snow in May, she convinced him to move to Kansas City in 2010. Together they have lived in Midtown, Waldo, the Plaza, and now Overland Park. Sarah is mom to 10-year-old, Henry, 7-year-old Clark and 5-year-old Lucy. She has her master’s in urban administration and is passionate about making Kansas City a more equitable and supportive community. In between the crazy, she likes to drink coffee, run, hike, travel as much as possible, and experience all things Kansas City!
