Teresa Maxwell: Radio Celebrity, Mom and Weight Loss Success Story

The post is sponsored by MaxLife Weight Loss and Body Balancing.

I met Teresa Maxwell from the Rocket & Teresa Morning Show on Mix 93.3 at my first job out of college. I was a young 20-something trying to learn the ins and outs of radio sales, and Teresa was a young mom and local radio celebrity. Fast forward to today and our paths have crossed once again. I get to turn the tables on Teresa and find out how she makes being a working mom of two sound so easy. She’s going to introduce us to Max Life Body and how it’s made an impact in her life.

Laura/KCMB: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family.
Teresa: My husband, Billy and I will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary this September. We were young newlyweds when we first came to the Kansas City area for my job at Mix 93.3. The first house we bought was in West Shawnee, Kan. There was hardly anything around at the time. We love the area so much that we still live there 18 years later. Our boys are now teenagers. Chase is almost 17 and driving. Christian is 13 and in middle school.

Laura/KCMB: Being a working mom is hard! How do you find time to take care of yourself?
Teresa: It is very hard. Most people think I work four hours and then go home. They don’t think about the fact that my alarm goes off at 3 a.m., and I’m out the door by 4:30 a.m. My morning show is over by 10 a.m., but then I have client meetings, production and other office duties. When I do leave the radio station, I schedule doctor, dentist and any other personal appointments in the middle of the day so I can be home when my kids get out of school at 3 p.m. Then I’m busy with all their appointments or school activities. On a good day, I can be in bed by 8 p.m., but the reality is I’m usually awake until at least 10.

Laura/KCMB: You look great. You’ve mentioned your weight loss journey on air. Tell us how you’ve found success.
Teresa: I’ve struggled with my weight my entire life. When I was growing up I was thin, but I was an early bloomer. I was wearing a very skinny women’s size 3 but my friends were still wearing little girl sizes, so I always felt huge. Over the years, I’ve gained weight and lost weight but the last few years I’ve just been stuck. I wasn’t in a good mental space to lose the weight. I would try diets, but I wasn’t committed and ready to make a change. I got to a place where I was tired of not feeling good in my clothes. I was tired of not going to the neighborhood pool all summer because there was no way I was going to let my neighbors see me in a swim suit. I watch the overnight national news on TV while I get ready in the morning.

These commercials for Max Life would always come on claiming that you could lose 30 pounds in 30 days. I knew there had to be a catch. Finally, I decided that I had to do something. It is hard to get motivated when you are only losing one or two pounds a week. Max Life claimed to help you achieve quick results. So, I made an appointment. It worked for me because of the quick results and the fact that you do the program in 30-day cycles. On a day when I was struggling to stay on track, I would just think to myself “30 days. You can do anything for 30 days.”

Laura/KCMB: What makes Max Life Body different than a diet?
Teresa: Max Life is different because of those quick results that I keep mentioning. It really is the key. With other diets I would be successful in the beginning but lose motivation when the scale didn’t move fast enough. I lost 21 pounds in my first 30 days with Max Life. That put me into a mental zone where I was excited to reach my goal.

Laura/KCMB: How has Max Life Body put you back in balance again?
Teresa: I’m a drive thru junkie. I love fast food. I love convenience. Max Life helped put me on the right track of cooking my own food, making healthier choices, and eating clean food. It is amazing how I don’t crave

junk food now that it is out of my system.

Laura/KCMB: What’s one thing you’d like our readers to know about you?
Teresa: I am exactly the person you hear on the radio. I put my life out there in an open and honest way in the hopes of relating to my audience. None of it is sugar coated or made up. If I can laugh at my own flaws and still find joy, then hopefully somebody listening will see that they can too.
