A Morning of Service for the Whole Family: Join Us at Kids Helping Kids Day

Kansas City Mom Collective introduces Kids Helping Kids Day, a community service event that is designed for every member of the family, no matter what age, to participate in. It will be a fun morning of service, food, drink and entertainment!

In cooperation with Olathe Health, we are excited to welcome your family to the gorgeous Ball Conference Center, a locally-owned multipurpose venue and event space located just south of Kansas City in Olathe, Kansas.

Below are the service projects and fun you’ll have the opportunity to participate in.

Provide Support and Hope for Grieving Families at Solace House

Solace House is a grief counseling center specifically designed to be a nurturing place to guide children and their families through the difficult time following the death of a loved one. Their grief support groups help families navigate together the effects of grief and trauma.

Our signature service project will ask guests to paint “Take What You Need Rocks” rocks for Solace House guests. Whether it’s hope, comfort, faith, hope or something else, you’ll give the guests a tangible reminder of their healing goals, and remind them that others care.

We will also create a group art project to stay at Solace House and honor Childhood Grief Month, symbolized by the blue butterfly.

We’re so thankful to Wee Create Studio in helping us facilitate these two projects!

Make Get Well Cards for Kids in the Hospital

Nothing cheers you up when you’re feeling down like a card letting you know others are rooting for you! Thanks to our title sponsor, Olathe Health for making this event possible and helping us cheer up kids in their care.

Packing Kits for Families Staying at Ronald McDonald Houses

RMHC-KC keeps sick children close to their families and the care they need. With 87 rooms, families find a place of respite in a home-like environment. Help pack snack kits with Pinnacle Gymnastics and activity kits with The Goddard Schools.

Making Toys for Homeless Pets Living at Unleashed Pet Rescue and Adoption

Unleashed is a licensed, non-profit animal shelter that works to save the lives of homeless pets. Thanks to Mission Parks & Recreation for creating the space to braid fleece strips together to make dog toys and rice socks for heating pads for the animals.

Create Messages of Empowerment for Girls in Your Life

Join Girls in Real Life in creating painted clips a backpack, bedroom curtains or even chip clips to empower and inspire the girls in your life. Kids (and parents!) can take their creation home and share with a friend, sister, daughter, teacher or mom to remind them of their inner beauty and power!

Decorate Messages of Thanks to Our Police Officers and Fire Fighters

Sweet Tooth Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics will host a thank you card station where families can show their gratitude for those who keep our community safe.

Make Kits for Someone Who Needs a Friend

Kindness and service sometimes require bravery. Engaged KC will help us create friendship kits to hand out to others that really need a friend whether it be a reminder they have worth, a tissue to dry tears or a bandaid to heal hurt feelings.

Sign a Kindness Contract and Serve All Year Long

Keep the momentum going! We hope that this event will inspire you to continue your family’s commitment to serving others all year long. Virtue Chiropractic will help your family brainstorm ideas for service projects in the KC Metro that allow for families to serve together as well as ideas you can do from home. Take home a decorated bookmark to remind you of your commitment.

Come hungry!

Keep those energy buckets filled with food and drinks brought to you by our friends at Grounded Mobile Coffee, Unforked, Jimmy Johns, Nekter Juice Bar, Another Broken Egg and Jarvy’s Shave Ice!

Have Fun, Too!

In addition to the fun of serving together, we’ll allow time for some self care with manicures from Overland Park Paint & Nail Bar and fun hairstyling for the kids with Shear Madness. Halfway through the morning of service, we’ll stop for a fun, high-energy workout for all ages led by Tony Temple of Temple Made Fitness. Thanks to DJ Miles McMahon from Theater of the Imagination for keeping our energy high throughout the morning with fun music!

To ensure we have enough food, drink and supplies for all of our guests, we ask that you reserve your spot soon!
