Best Places for a Kansas City Photo

It’s no secret that the Kansas City and surrounding areas offer some of the best historical architecture, impressive monuments and museums, stadiums, parks, and sites to see. From our skylines to our open fields, our neck of the woods is a pretty photogenic destination. Snapping selfies, cute kid pictures, or showing off your love is fun in selfie mode or by hiring one of the many talented photographers in the area. Choosing where your photo session will be is question that has been asked a lot in  local parenting groups. I think we can all name the classic spots, but there are so many more unique backdrops. Sites that are highlighting local artists and showing off vibrant scenes and cool designs. So grab your selfie stick, or schedule your favorite photographer to check out some of these colorful choices.

Be Yourself
I love this one. Such a perfect spot for pictures of the kiddos. We plan to take frequent pictures here to show growth. Located in Downtown Lee’s Summit. Don’t miss these balloons.

Fairytale
One of the sweetest backgrounds around. The colors, hearts, and lettering make this another must in Downtown Lee’s Summit. Perfect for couples or kids. Show off your fairytale love at this spot.

Be Cool
This gorgeous lady is full of vibrant colors and life. Strike a pose with her in Downtown Lee’s Summit. Shes right by Metanoia, so you can swing inside and grab a drink and snack from their Nourished Nook.

Fly Away
Find these beautifully detailed wings in Downtown Parkville in Photo Op Ally. These would be so fun to pose with in prom or wedding dresses, but perfect for any day when you feel like flying away.

Graffiti
There are some really cool spots around the KC area showing off the insane graffiti skills from local artists.  From Westport to the West Bottoms around parks and on building sides, find some great colors and designs to get in front of. Maternity, senior, engagement, or just for fun finding these spots yourself is all part of the photo adventure.

Kids Murals
If you are not quite up for adventuring around to find graffiti there are some really fun kid friendly murals. Fun graphics and kid friendly locations. Its always fun for kiddos to see themselves in front of one of these murals. Snap one and (actually) print it off for them to see.

The Ultimate Insta Background
Check out The Maker Mural on Madison. We love how local artists were highlighted in each section of impressive wall. We are excited to see more and more photographers come from this perfect backdrop stop.

Have fun taking photos. Choose some out of the ordinary places for your next shoot. Explore the area to find all these awesome backdrops! And of course, please be careful and respectful of the area on your Best Place for a Photo adventure!

Jess Rodenburg
I am a KC implant but couldn’t imagine ever leaving the Midwest. I grew up in Colorado, moved to the Caribbean in my 20’s, and landed here in KC. I have always had a case of wanderlust and travel as much as possible. Experiencing new cultures, meeting different types of people, and trying new food has been life changing for me and I want my kids to have that experience now instead of waiting until they are adults. Right now we are focused on US road-trips to see National Parks and all The World's Largest along the way. We are a homeschooling family! I like to over share on the internet about divorce, sobriety, therapy, and single mom life. If we are not on the road you’ll find me working on my social media management business, watching Grey’s Anatomy, or painting a mural.
