Gifts for Teachers & Other Important People in Your Life

Needing gifts for teachers or other important people in your family’s life, but unsure as to what to get someone that they will actually enjoy? As a teacher, the gifts I love the most are the practical ones as well as the ones that I am forced to use on me. The ones that show me that my students and their parents have taken the time to get to know me as a person. I love the surprises, but I also love when my parents reach out to ask me what I like.

Check out my favorite teacher gifts!

Favorite Drink or Candy of Choice

All teachers enjoy a surprise Sonic drink, a case of their favorite caffeinated drink during the holiday season, or a package of their favorite sweet treat. If you’re not sure what that is just shoot your child’s teacher an email and ask!

A Gift Card to a Local Nail Salon

A gift that forces them to relax and spend time alone is always a win. This is often something that teachers don’t have time for during the busy holiday season, but with a gift card, it’s easier to make the time.

Something KC-specific from a Local Shop

You can’t go wrong with Made in KC or Local Foundry! A new t-shirt, an ornament, a new mask! Anything from either of these shops is going to make a Kansas City teacher happy.

Ice Cream Gift Cards

After teaching in a mask all day or teaching online all day, a treat from a local ice cream shop is going to be a win this holiday season. Too cold for ice cream? Give them a gift card to a place known for their hot chocolate instead!

Personalized Anything!

Teachers love all gifts with their name on it. Water bottles, note pads, pencils/pens, a sign, etc.

Alcoholic Drink of Choice

While it might not be the best idea to send this gift to school with your child, you can always give a gift card to the local liquor store or hand deliver the gift to the front office. Never hesitate to reach out and make sure your child’s teacher would appreciate an adult beverage.

A New Ornament

I love decorating my Christmas tree and hanging an ornament from a past student. It’s so much fun to have those memories of previous years to display each holiday season.

Amazon Gift Card

When you are really struggling for a gift idea or just don’t have the time to go out and shop, you can never go wrong with an Amazon gift card! Teachers spend so much of their own money, and we can always find something we need or want on Amazon.

From the Heart

If your gift budget is tight this year, no worries. A handwritten note about the impact an individual teacher has had on your child or a note from your child to the teacher is a priceless treasure. Genuine appreciation is felt and cherished whether it comes in the form of a gift or a sincere thank you.

Molly Williamson
I’m Molly! I am a wife, mom, teacher, aspiring school principal, and wellness coach. I was born and raised in Lee’s Summit, MO, now raising my family in this great city. I am a wife to my wife, Kylie, married for 5 years this Fall, and mom to our 2 year old son, Oliver (insert terrible 2s here!). We are a suburban family raising our toddler along with three dogs, 2 Beagles and a Golden Retriever. When I’m not running the toddler to swim lessons, trying to figure out what he needs, or going to family events you can find me reading or watching Law and Order: SVU. I’ve recently found enjoyment in cooking and trying new recipes, even though my toddler refuses to eat. We enjoy new experiences as a family of three, including going to the Zoo, visiting the public library, watching Disney movies, and exploring Kansas City!
