Are you dreading the summer screen time issues that lie ahead?
Technology is a way of life for all of us, and it can provide so much good. Can you even imagine what the last two years would have looked like without the power of technology? But we also know the challenges that come with that power.
Join your fellow parents on Sunday, May 1 from 2-4 p.m. at the Mid Continent Library-East Lee’s Summit Branch as we come together to help build a plan to support your family’s digital health. In cooperation with Comcast, we will host a screening and discussion of the program Screen Sanity created by START.
Digital parenthood is filled with difficult decisions and unanswered questions. Uncomfortable conversations and moments of growth. We get it. Raising kids in this digital age is hard. But it’s even harder to do it alone.
Krista Boan from START will guide us through Screen Sanity. This highly acclaimed program is designed to help parents unpack today’s hottest screentime topics and get you the tips and tricks you need to raise happy, healthy kids in an increasingly digital world.
With expert-guided content, you’ll be on your way to creating a family screen plan that includes a roadmap for introducing your kids to a smartphone and social media. You will leave with practical ways you can talk to your kids about this topic — no matter what age or stage your kid is in at the moment.
This content and the program are designed for adults only but will give you practical ways you can talk to your kids about the topic. Parents will have the opportunity to see a few START-recommended, kid-friendly devices at the event. Your ticket includes a bound group study book.
Our partners at Comcast will discuss another way you can provide boundaries for screen use with Xfinity xFi. This platform provides an easy-to-use digital dashboard for customers to set up their home Wi-Fi network, see what devices are connected, set parental controls, set time limits, and even pause Wi-Fi access during dinner or bedtime.
During the event, we will be treated to delicious charcuterie boxes from Queen Bee Boards in Lee’s Summit and cold brew and coffee from The Roasterie.
We can’t wait for an afternoon of learning, discussion, and community — adding great tools to make you (almost) as screen savvy as your kids!
